Studio K
Who are we?
A little bit about us
Studio K is a small design company based in West Yorkshire. Very small. In fact it's just me, Imelda Kay. I have over 30 years experience designing for museums and galleries all over the UK. For 18 years I worked at the National Media Museum in Bradford, the last 10 years as Head of design, before taking the plunge and starting up on my own in 2001.
Since then I have worked for many local and national museums including: The Millennium Galleries, Sheffield; Harewood House, Leeds; Cannon Hall, Barnsley; The Science Museum, London; Leeds City Museum to name a few.
I have a long working relationship with other museum design professionals and we work together on larger projects. Studio K has provided artwork services for museum designers Redman Design and Mather & Co on many major museum projects including: St Albans Cathedral; Quarry Bank Mill; National Centre of Horseracing; Experience Barnsley; National Museum of Liverpool; Sheffield Weston Park; Summerlee Heritage Centre; Tullie House; Newcastle Discovery Centre and many others. If you would like us to quote for artwork services, get in touch.
My husband and son provide support with admin, project management and artwork production.
What do we do?
It's all in the detail
Although I specialise in designing graphic displays for museums, I also design printed graphic material for a wide range of business clients. These include theatre programmes, branding, logos, posters, leaflets, books, pop-up display stands and the occasional website.
You always deal directly with the lead designer (me). No middle man in a grey suit. That way we can communicate ideas more effectively.
Being such a small (but perfectly formed) company, we can offer great value for money producing cost-effective and creative design solutions for every budget. From a single page flyer to a million pound exhibition, we can handle it!
